OUR HISTORY
“Beginnings
Anderson House Omagh as it is known today began life in 1865, when 24 year old Joseph Anderson started a small Haberdashery and Drapery shop at 41 Market Street.”
“Over time the buildings nearby were also purchased and building works interconnected a number of buildings to extend the portfolio. J. B. Anderson & Co. Ltd was a well known department store and the area was locally known as Anderson’s corner.”
“With the addition of a coffee shop in the 1970s, the area was very much part of the thriving Omagh town.”
“The Past
The Anderson House buildings have endured two bombs, the first was in 1977 destroying 90% of the premises. ”
“After the rebuild in 1982 J. B. Anderson & Co Ltd began a new life as a mainly property company.”
“The second bomb on 15th August 1998 was the darkest day in the history of Omagh, it resulted in 31 deaths. This was the worst single atrocity in the history of the troubles.”
“The Future
Anderson House in Omagh was rebuilt and restored by 2001 and remains a prominent part of the busy Omagh town today. The building houses a variety of tenants that are listed in the Business Directory.

Anderson House has welcomed some new tenants including Rillion Gracie, and Omagh’s first coffee spot has reopened and is now known as Terracotta. There are a few units remaining to lease, short term rentals may be considered, please feel free to contact us.”
